Our Story
“The Foundation"
The Foundation started in 1990 trough an agropecuarian project in Puerto Rico in the town of Aguas Buenas, where a property was used to help the local people in cultivating food to sustain their own families. The introduction of food stamps by the federal government led to the dismantling of this project and the sale of the land.
At this time the Foundation was also active in providing food, medicines, medical care and clothes to several charity organizations and needed families throughout the metropolitan area of San Juan up to today.
The name St. Martin de Porres was chosen because of the multiple kind of services he gave to the poor, the sick, the hungry, the thirsty, the abandoned, the discriminated, in the understanding that God’s love is inclusive of all, no matter what.
In the year 1995, an unexpected opportunity arose to acquire 200 acres of agropecuarian land located in the communities of Paralimón and Dajao, in the Dominican Republic. These communities belong to the Municipality of San José de las Matas, in the Province of Santiago de los Caballeros.
